Shelbourne have confirmed the departure of head coach Joey O'Brien following Monday's three-nil Dublin derby defeat to Bohemians.
Shels currently sit fifth in the Premier Division table, 14 points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers.
Having arrived first as assistant manager in the winter of 2021, former Republic of Ireland and West Ham defender O'Brien played a pivotal role as Shels returned to life in the top-tier by finishing seventh while reaching the FAI Cup final under then-boss Damien Duff.
In 2024, the 40-year-old helped guide Shels to the League of Ireland title alongside Duff.
After taking on the role of interim head coach in June 2025 following Duff's departure, he was given a long-term contract soon after.
He guided the Reds to the league phase of the UEFA Conference League and a third-place finish in the League of Ireland but has lasted just one year in the head coach position.
A statement from the club read: "The club wishes to place on record our sincere appreciation for Joey’s contribution during his time at Tolka Park... All involved with Shels thank Joey for the huge contribution he has made to the club and wish him the very best for his future endeavours."
Shelbourne under-20 head coach Lorcan Fitzgerald will take interim charge of the side.
