In the immediate aftermath of Clare’s 13-point victory over Dublin, Brian Lohan’s thoughts were with injured player David Reidy.

The Banner substitute who was introduced in the 65th minute was hit with a high challenge from Brendan Kenny, for which the Dublin substitute saw red.

The game was interrupted for a lengthy period of time, with at least 13 additional minutes added on.

“No update, except he is with our medical staff and he is gone off to hospital and we are hoping that he will be okay,” the manager said.

“No one wants to see a stretcher coming out onto the field and the game held up for a period of time. But we do have brilliant medical staff, an excellent doctor, and he is in good hands.

The next couple of hours we will see how he is.”

Conor Cleary and David McInerney were others who picked up injuries during the course of the contest. Lohan didn’t have an update on David McInerney’s leg injury but did confirm that Conor Cleary was also gone to hospital.

On the game itself, the victory he said was built around Clare’s second-half display.

“First half was mixed, first quarter good, second quarter not so good. And then in the third and fourth quarters, we used the ball better than we had been doing in that second quarter and got a better return.

“We struggled very badly in that second quarter on our own puck out and they got a good amount of scores from that. That is an area we have to work on obviously.

“So I suppose I am happy enough with the second-half performance and some good things in the first half and some things we have to work on.

“Good to win, good to get the performance, patchy enough performance. Very little in it at half-time. We pulled away and did the job we had to do.”
