Former Ireland U21 international Kwame Ampadu is joining Celtic as Wilfried Nancy’s assistant coach.
Born to an Irish mother and Ghanaian father, the 54-year-old grew up in Dublin playing for Belvedere before joining the Irish legion at Arsenal in the late 1980s.
He made two appearances for the Gunners before departing for gametime, racking up over 400 games elsewhere, primarily for Swansea City and Exeter City.
Ampadu - father of Leeds and Wales midfielder Ethan – held coaching roles in Arsenal's academy before moving to Monaco in 2018 as Gunners legend Thierry Henry's assistant.
He then followed the Frenchman to CF Montreal, marking his first involvement with Nancy, who subsequently took him to Columbus Crew and now Celtic.
Fitness coach Jules Gueguen and video performance coach Maxim Chalier are all part of the new backroom staff at Parkhead.
Frenchman Nancy takes the reins from caretaker boss Martin O’Neill, who made a sensational return to the Scottish champions when called upon by majority shareholder Dermot Desmond in the wake of Brendan Rodgers’ controversial October exit.
