Sky Ireland has been confirmed as the new primary sponsor of the Irish men's football team.

The new deal, which runs until 2028, is an extension of an existing partnership between Sky and the FAI which saw them sponsor the women's national team.

Sky has been the sponsor of the women's team for the last two-and-a-half years while the men's team had been without a main sponsor since 2019. The promotional images and video from the announcement have given us a first look at the new Ireland jersey.

Typically a press conference would be called to announce such a commercial deal but FAI chief executive Jonathan Hill hasn’t spoken publicly since his calamitous performance before the Dáil's Public Accounts Committee at Leinster House on February 22.

Instead, he issued this message to FAI members this morning:

Dear All

I am delighted to let you know that we have signed a new, multi-year partnership agreement with Sky to become the new Primary Partner of the Republic of Ireland Men’s National Team and to extend their Primary Partnership with the Women’s National Team through to 2028.

Sky have been a committed and trusted partner to the FAI through their incredible work to promote our Women’s National Team and we are looking forward to working with them to extend that story-telling across both our Men’s and Women’s team in what will be an exciting few years for Irish football.

Attached is the press release going to media shortly.

My thanks to Sean Kavanagh and the wider team for all their excellent work here as we continue to stabilize our overall financial situation, a special mention to Gus, Gareth and Conor for their work over the last three years building the relationship with Sky.

All the very best

Jonathan

The new partnership will support both squads through four tournament campaigns: The Women’s Euros in 2025, the 2026 Fifa World Cup, the 2027 Fifa Women’s World Cup and Euro 2028.

Under the management of interim boss John O'Shea, the men's team will face Belgium in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, March 23rd and follow that with another friendly against Switzerland at the same venue on Tuesday, March 26th.

The women's will start their Euro 2025 qualifying campaign away to France on Friday, April 5th before hosting England at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, April 9th.
