Maddison has been missed by Spurs, but his return gave them the edge over a feisty Brentford side who took the lead but then capitulated with three goals conceded in the first 11 minutes of the second half.

JAMES MADDISON chose his return to Tottenham's starting lineup for the first time in three months to give a masterclass in midfield play in front of the watching England manager Gareth Southgate, as Spurs moved back into the top four.
