Jordan Henderson laughed off Roy Keane’s cutting criticism about his place in the England squad, saying he wouldn’t be in the squad if Keane had not given him his Sunderland debut.

Long since established as a key player under Gareth Southgate, the 30-year-old’s place at the rearranged Euros looked in jeopardy when he underwent groin surgery in February.
