Cork City slip up in title race

Cork City missed out on a chance to make up ground on Dundalk in the Airtricity League title race this evening.

The Leesiders remain six points off the league leaders after a 2-1 defeat to Sligo Rovers at Turner's Cross.

Kieran Sadlier and Raf Cretaro put Sligo 2-0 up at half-time and Sean Maguire's second-half penalty was not enough for Cork to get something from the game.

Elsewhere, St Patrick's Athletic are into the final of the EA Sports Cup.

The Saints came from a goal down to beat their hosts Shamrock Rovers by three goals to one tonight in their semi-final at the Tallaght Stadium.

Goasls from Darren Dennehy, Jamie McGrath and Christy Fagan helped Pat's to victory after Dean Clarke had initially given Rovers the lead.
