VIDEO: Martin O’Neill channels Roy Keane on ITV

Martin O’Neill was bullish defending his record as a footballer on ITV last night.

First Adrian Chiles painted a very unflattering picture of O’Neill defending a free kick,

“I can imagine you in the wall, with your glasses on, sort of flinching.”

O’Neill responded with withering scorn.

“Well, that’s very nice of you to say here. I actually didn’t wear glasses when I played football.

“What you are seeing now,” he said, “is an older gentleman.”

He then turned on Patrick Vieira and Fabio Cannevaro.

“When it comes to the Champions League, what used be called the Europeon Cup, I’ve won two of them.”

“I’d just like to know how many you two have won?”, he asked.

The answer of course, is none. Game, set and match Martin O’Neill.

Patrick Vieira later tweeted that the episode reminded him of a certain other Irishman
