Suarez 'set for knee surgey'
Liverpool are awaiting an update from their own medical staff after reports in Uruguay that striker Luis Suarez requires an operation on a knee problem.
The player was apparently injured during a training session with his national team after arriving back in his homeland on Tuesday.
It was reported that the 27-year-old could undergo surgery in the next few hours to repair damage to the meniscus in one of his knees.
There has been no official confirmation from the Uruguay Football Federation on whether an operation will take place, but it is expected to make a statement later today.
It is understood that Liverpool’s medical team are currently trying to ascertain the full extent of Suarez’s injury for themselves.
Any surgery would likely sideline the striker, the Professional Footballers’ Association and Football Writers’ Association player of the year after scoring 31 league goals, for at least three to four weeks.
