FAI announce friendly against Turkey at Aviva
The Football Association of Ireland has confirmed a friendly international with Turkey at the Aviva Stadium on May 25.
The match will be preceded by the FAI Umbro Junior Cup final.
The Republic of Ireland has faced Turkey 12 times in its history, recording five wins, six draws and one defeat.
The match will form part of Martin O’Neill’s preparations for the Euro 2016 campaign starting with the upcoming friendly on March 5 in against Serbia.
Their visit will rekindle unhappy memories for the Republic, who missed out on a place at the finals of Euro 2000 after a 0-0 play-off draw in Bursa sent Turkey through on the away goals rule.
A number of other end-of-season friendly options are currently being explored and details will be confirmed as soon as they are finalised.
Tickets for the Serbia match are on sale from €20 for adults and €10 for children from Ticketmaster.
Tickets for the Turkey match will also be the same price and a ticket launch date for this match will be announced before the end of this month.
