Holloway promising more dance moves
Ian Holloway hopes to strut his stuff at Wembley next Monday – just as long as no one is filming him.
The Crystal Palace boss celebrated his side’s 2-0 play-off semi-final at arch-rivals Brighton last week with a crazy dance routine in the dressing room to the delight of his players.
Unfortunately one of them, winger Yannick Bolasie, captured the moves on his mobile phone and then posted the footage on the internet.
Holloway admitted Bolasie got a “flea in his ear” for his stunt, but then promised an even better boogie should they beat Watford and secure promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
“People shouldn’t have seen that in the first place, but in the modern day players have phones in their hands with cameras – they shouldn’t have done that,” said Holloway.
“I should be allowed to express myself however I see fit in the privacy of my own dressing room. You should be able to enjoy a result like that.
“But I out-danced some of my players who were dancing in the corner, and for someone who is 50 I showed them some new moves. They weren’t my best ones, I’ll save them for the final.”
Holloway’s dancing was not the only thing to hit the floor in the Amex dressing room.
The Palace players arrived at Brighton’s plush new ground to find someone had left excrement in the toilet and shower area.
Holloway was angered at the time but, after two Wilfried Zaha goals sent the fired-up Eagles to Wembley, he has now thanked the perpetrator for providing him with the easiest team talk of his career.
“I’ve never seen a look like it on Wilf’s face,” added Holloway.
“I have to thank that person for doing me the biggest favour. I didn’t have to gee the players up at all, in fact I had to calm them down.
“So how stupid is that person? They got Palace to play like that.”
