Sunderland midfielder David Meyler has joined npower Championship Hull on loan, the Tigers have confirmed.

The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland midfielder has been re-united with former Black Cats boss Steve Bruce at the KC Stadium, where he will remain until January 1.

Meyler, who has fought his way back from two cruciate ligament injuries, has made five senior appearances for Martin O’Neill’s side this season and was drafted into the Ireland squad for last month’s World Cup qualifiers against Germany and the Faroe Islands.

He links up with fellow Ireland international and on loan Manchester United winger Robbie Brady along with Black Cats winger Ahmed Elmohamady at Hull with the Egypt international having completed a season-long loan deal in August.
