Cork look for first league win of the season

Cork City will bid to secure their first victory of the season when they host Bray Wanderers at Turner’s Cross at 7.45pm this evening.

The Leesiders were denied by an injury-time Shamrock Rovers equaliser in their previous home game, and suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss in Derry last week.

The Seagulls have had a mixed start to the campaign - beating UCD in their last away game then going down tamely at home to Drogheda last week.

Bray have only won one of the last 10 meetings between the sides, although the most recent meeting between the sides was in October 2009.

Cork midfielder Shane Duggan returns from suspension but Stephen Mulcahy, Kevin Murray and Neal Horgan all remain sidelined with knee injuries. John Dunleavy is a major doubt with flu.

Bray are without Adam Mitchell (concussion) and suspended Dane Massey.

Long-term injury victims Shane O'Connor and Stephen Brennan remain out.

Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said: “We need to be positive and play at a good tempo in order to try and win the match. It is still early in the season, and nothing is decided at this point, but we want to get that first win under our belts.”

Bray director of football Pat Devlin is delighted his side can travel to Leeside again.

"It’s great that Cork are back in the Premier Division," he said. "Turner’s Cross is a great place to go to play football and let’s hope the lads will respond after the disappointment of last week."
