Inter Milan coach Claudio Ranieri praised his players for overcoming a Champions League “handicap” to reach the knockout stages as Group B winners last night.

The Italian side made the worst possible start to the group campaign in September, losing 1-0 at home to Turkish outfit Trabzonspor under the guidance of former boss Gian Piero Gasperini.
