Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan is set to make a shock season-long loan move to the United Arab Emirates after months of speculation over his future.

The 25-year-old Ghana international will join Al-Ain after becoming unsettled on Wearside barely a year after his club record £13m-plus switch from Rennes to the Stadium of Light.
