Cars were vandalised today in a suspected attack targeting photographers outside the home of Ryan Giggs.

A group of masked men damaged the body work, slashed tyres and egged the vehicles parked near the footballer’s mansion in Worsley, Greater Manchester.

Press attention on Giggs, 37, intensified yesterday when he was named in Parliament as the married footballer involved in a controversial privacy case.

Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming used parliamentary privilege to name him as the Premier League player who took out an injunction over his alleged relationship with 28-year-old reality TV star Imogen Thomas.

Since then a number of paparazzi photographers have been camped outside Giggs’ home, which he shares with wife, Stacey, and their two children.

Six cars were targeted shortly after 3.20pm in Worsley, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Several men wearing balaclavas burst out of a Ford Transit van and attacked the vehicles before fleeing the scene.

A police spokesman said officers attended and inquiries are continuing.
