A Danny North penalty won a point at the Brandywell to raise morale at St Patrick's as Derry lost second place in the table.

All the action came late on Foyleside as Derry thought they'd got one hand on all three points when taking the lead on 71 minutes.

James McClean celebrated his 22nd birthday by converting veteran Eddie McCallion's right wing cross.

But Saints battled back and levelled eight minutes later. McCallion hauled down Daryl Kavanagh following a swift counterattack and North confidently shot home the spot kick.
