Feeney back for Galway

Galway United will be hoping to kick-start their season with victory over Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

Steve Feeney is set to return to boost the Galway squad after recovering from injury, although Gary Curran remains out of manager Sean Connor’s squad with a broken metatarsal, while Joseph Yoffe is also missing with an ankle injury.

Alan Murphy is another to miss out as he recovers from a groin strain, while Shaun Maher is suspended for the visit of Bray.

United boss Sean Connor said: "Right now we're missing Gary Curran, Alan Murphy Shaun Maher and Joseph Yoffe. There's four big players out for us.

“Our squad is being tested to the limits, but that's an opportunity for some of the younger players to come in and show me what they're capable of."

Long term injury victims Gary Shaw (foot) and Stephen Brennan (calf) remain out for Wanderers.

Shane O'Neill picked up a groin strain in last week’s clash with Drogheda and is a doubt, while Joe Kendrick returns to the squad having missed the last three games with a thigh strain.

Bray's Director of Football Pat Devlin said: "We will go into the game with confidence after our recent performances, but we won't be over confident.

“We know that Galway have always put it up to us over the years and any team managed by Sean Connor will be well organised. They will make it difficult for us and we will have to be on our toes right from the start.”

Wanderers and Galway have never played out a scoreless draw in 44 previous meetings in all competitions.
