No Vidic for United
Nemanja Vidic has been forced to miss Manchester United’s Champions League last-16 clash with Marseille at Old Trafford after failing to recover from a calf injury.
The Serbian’s place goes to Wes Brown, who starts alongside Chris Smalling as United looked for the victory that would take them into the quarter-finals following a goalless draw in France three weeks ago.
Top scorer Dimitar Berbatov is once again named on the bench, where he found himself in the opposite dug-out to Marseille danger-man Mathieu Valbuena, who missed the first leg through injury.
Man Utd: Van der Sar, O’Shea, Smalling, Brown, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Hernandez, Rooney.
Subs: Kuszczak, Berbatov, Fabio Da Silva, Rafael Da Silva, Valencia, Obertan, Gibson.
Marseille: Mandanda, Fanni, Heinze, Diawara, Taiwo, M’bia Etoundi, Cheyrou, Remy, Gonzalez, Andre Ayew, Gignac.
Subs: Andrade, Hilton, Cisse, Kabore, Jordan Ayew, Abriel, Valbuena.
