Halil Altintop has signed a two-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt after impressing while on loan from Schalke for the second half of last season.

The Turkey international scored just three goals, but was an influential player in the 15 matches he played for the club after joining from the Royal Blues during the winter break.

Since his contract in Gelsenkirchen was not renewed, he was free to negotiate with any other club, but has chosen to stay with Frankfurt for the next two seasons at least, much to the satisfaction of coach Michael Skibbe.

“I am delighted that we have been been able to fulfil the coach’s wishes in signing Halil Altintop,” said Frankfurt’s chairman Heribert Bruchhagen on the club’s website.

The 27-year-old has played a total of 202 Bundesliga matches, scoring 47 goals.
