Steven Reid set to be named in Ireland squad
Steven Reid is expected to be named in the Republic of Ireland squad for the final World Cup qualifiers when Giovanni Trapattoni confirms his selection tomorrow.
The 28-year-old, who has spent the best part of two seasons battling injury, played 75 minutes of Blackburn's Carling Cup win over Notts Forest earlier this week.
Trapattoni indicated last month that he had the upcoming meetings with Italy and Montenegro in mind for the midfielder's return.
The Italian will confirm his squad for the Croke Park matches tomorrow afternoon at Abbotstown.
Aiden McGeady is expected to be fit in time for next month's games despite hobbling off with an ankle injury during Celtic's League Cup match at Falkirk last night.
The extent of the problem is not yet known, but the winger is only expected to be out of action for seven to 10 days.
