Kilbane: We didn't perform
Kevin Kilbane has said the Republic of Ireland players must hold their hands up following their 3-0 loss to the Socceroos last night.
The Hull defender said: "We just didn't play, we didn't get started. We wanted to go out and give a good account of ourselves, but ultimately we just didn't perform.
"We did have chances first half, Robbie had a good chance but their keeper made a good save and we had another couple of half chances. They hit us with a sucker punch with the two goals.
He stressed however that the friendly was a fitness exercise more than anything.
Kilbane said: "I think probably a lot will be read into it, but ultimately we can't allow that to happen and the qualification is the one that counts next month."
He also revealed the disappointment of manager Giovanni Trapattoni, saying: "He is just a little disappointed, he always goes on about concentration through the whole game and tonight we had a couple of lapses in the first half."
