Shamrock Rovers can move to within three points of leaders Bohemians with victory against Derry City at the Tallaght Stadium tonight (kick-off 7pm).

Ian Bermingham, Ollie Cahill, Stephen Rice and Padraig Amond are all doubtful for Rovers, however, midfielder Séan O’Connor returns from suspension.

Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “It looks like Ian will miss out as he has a knee problem. Both Ollie and Stephen are recovering from knocks they got in the game against Bohs.

“Along with Padraig Amond – who’s struggling with a knee injury – the others are less doubtful compared to Ian, but we won’t know for sure and won’t call it until closer to the game.

“It’s great to be involved in European football – but it brings its own difficulties, such as Derry City playing in Bulgaria on Thursday and then playing us three days later.

“But they’re a full-time outfit so they’re geared to deal with this type of situation. From our perspective we know that we’ll need to be on top of our game to get the three points.”

City travel to Dublin with a strong squad but manager Stephen Kenny is likely to make changes from the side that played in Sofia on Thursday night.

The Candystripes boss will have to plan without Peter Hutton and Eddie McCallion who are both serving suspensions.
