Redknapp won't back against United
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes Alex Ferguson’s rivalry with Liverpool and Rafael Benitez is driving Manchester United to another Barclays Premier League title.
United hold the advantage over Benitez’s men going into the final part of the campaign and Redknapp feels they will lift the trophy, even if his Spurs team win at Old Trafford tonight.
Redknapp is an old friend of Ferguson’s and knows the United boss wants to win everything on offer – but he also sees Benitez and Liverpool providing motivation.
“I think he would be gutted not to win it, especially with the rivalry with Liverpool and Benitez,” Redknapp said. “They’re red-hot favourites and I can’t see them throwing it away.
“There’s no love lost with Liverpool – I don’t think he would be too happy losing it now.”
Plenty has been made of Ferguson’s war of words with Liverpool boss Benitez, but Redknapp added: “We rely on players, the game’s all about good players.”
