Eleven PSNI officers injured during violence in the North

Eleven police officers have been injured in the North during disturbances at Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifier match with Poland.

Fireworks, bricks and bottles were thrown at the police after rival football fans clashed before and after the match in Belfast.

Yesterday's disturbances started before the game got underway with rival supporters clashing as they made their way to Windsor Park.

Play was also briefly halted when an object thrown from the crowd hit a linesman.

A number of homes in the area were attacked in what police say were racially motivated incidents.

Earlier nine people were arrested for a range of offences following trouble at a city centre pub.

The PSNI has condemned the violence and says CCTV footage is being examined to identify those responsible.
