Celtic midfielder Barry Robson will have an operation on a groin injury next week which is likely to rule him out of next month’s Co-operative Insurance Cup final against Rangers.

The Scotland midfielder has battled with the groin problem this season and missed the game against the Light Blues at Celtic Park last week after the injury flared up again in training.

Robson will miss Sunday’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League trip to Motherwell as will Shaun Maloney, who is still out with a hamstring injury.

Provisional squad: Boruc, Hinkel, Caldwell, McManus, Naylor, Flood, McGeady, Scott Brown, Crosas, Hartley, Nakamura, McDonald, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Samaras, Mark Brown, Loovens, Hutchinson, O’Dea.
