Police called to Chelsea striker's house

Police were called to Chelsea star Didier Drogba’s home after his wife had a row with their cleaner.

Drogba, 30, was away on international duty with the Ivory Coast when Candy Price, 32, who had quit working for the couple, demanded £430 (€477) she said she was owed in wages.

The £24m striker’s wife, Lalla Diakite, was alone at their palatial pad in Oxshott, Surrey, and called the police to deal with the problem.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We attended an address on Broomfield Ride, Oxshott, at 1.50pm on Tuesday 10 February following a report of a dispute.

“Officers spoke to both parties at the scene and it was established it was a civil dispute which was quickly resolved.

“No offences were reported, no allegations were made by either party and there have been no arrests or charges in relation to this incident.”

Drogba’s spokesman said: “They owned the cleaner no money.

“He is on international duty and his wife is pregnant, on her own and doesn’t speak much English.

“The cleaner sat outside shouting threats, banging on the gate, ringing the intercom, so Didier’s wife was scared and called police.

“They advised her to give a cheque to go away, which she did.”

Ms Price, of West Drayton, Middlesex, told The Sun: “All I wanted was the money owed to me.

“Drogba’s partner kept telling me she would put it in the post, but I knew she didn’t have my address.”

The cleaner said she explained the situation to officers who went into the property and later emerged with her money.

“I’m angry that I had to go through all that hassle to get £430 (€477) from a man that earns more than £100,000 (€111,000) a week,” she added.
