Tevez future remains unclear
The future of Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has been put in further doubt after his agent refused to confirm whether he would be at the club next season.
Tevez, 24, this week vehemently denied claims he had rejected a contract offer from the Premier League champions, insisting he has had no discussions about making permanent the loan deal which expires in the summer.
Speculation the Argentina international will leave at the end of the season has been rife, with Real Madrid understood to be closely monitoring the situation.
Kia Joorabchian tonight defended his clientās comments, saying the forward has not created any problems at the club or with manager Alex Ferguson, but was vague when asked if Tevez would be at Old Trafford past the end of this campaign.
āItās very hard to predict,ā Joorabchian told BBC Radio Five Live Sport. āItās football. Things change by the minute, by the hour. Itās not a no. You never know.
āAll Carlos said in the interview was that it was not true, he has not rejected an offer from Manchester United, he has not made crazy demands. He just wanted the fans and the people to know that we havenāt had any contract talks.
āThatās the bottom line. He wanted to say āHow could I reject something if Iāve never spoken about itā?
āCarlos has never made an issue or a problem. He doesnāt have a problem at all with Sir Alex. Heās never had a fight with Sir Alex or any arguments.
āAll of these things are being created around a simple story that Carlos wanted to put straight.ā
Joorabchian denied any contact had been made with other clubs, stressing that Tevez is focusing on his duties with United.
āI think weāve made it very clear until now that weāve always said heās a Man United player and if anybody wants to buy Carlos or talk about Carlos they must talk to Man United,ā he continued.
āWeāre not in the process of people trying to contact us etc etc. Weāve never entertained any conversations or chats with (other clubs) about him.
āThe fact is that heās got six months left on his contract and heās happy to see that through and as he said he wants to win the title again, the Champions League again. He wants to win an FA Cup and now even the Carling Cup so heās very up for trying to get as many trophies as he can.ā
Joorabchian added: āHeās saying āIām happy to continue doing what I do best. If I get a new contract and everything works out, fantastic. If it doesnāt, Iāll go to another clubā.ā
