Marcelo Lippi equalled the world record for games unbeaten as a national team manager (31) as Italy were held to a 1-1 draw with Greece.

Luca Toni equalised (54), after Theofanis Gekas (50) had threatened to spoil Lippi's day.

France failed to lift the pressure on boss Raymond Domenech as they were held to a goalless draw by Uruguay.

Tuncay Sanli hit a hat-trick in Turkey's 4-2 victory in Austria. Andreas Holzl put the hosts ahead (28) before Mehmet Aurelio (37) equalised and Tuncay (41, 47, 61) stole the show.

Romania came from behind to beat Georgia 2-1. Otar Martsvaladze put the visitors ahead (11) but Ciprian Marica (62) and Dorin Goian (70) turned things around in the second half.

Reto Ziegler hit an 84th-minute winner as Switzerland beat Finland 1-0.

Serbia were comprehensive winners over Bulgaria, winning 6-1 on Savo Milosevic's farewell international appearance.

The 35-year-old striker scored twice (28, 34) but also missed two penalties (6, 16), while Milan Jovanovic (9, 27), Nenad Milijas (57) and Danko Lazovic (67) netted the other goals. Blagoy Georgiev briefly pulled Bulgaria level (20).

Israel were denied victory over African heavyweights Ivory Coast by an 85th-minute equaliser from Boubacar Sanogo in a 2-2 draw.

Elyaniv Barda (18) and Omer Golan (24) put Israel in control but an Avi Strool own- goal (33) halved the deficit before Sanogo levelled matters.

Yevhen Seleznyov's 26th-minute penalty handed Ukraine a 1-0 victory over Norway, who had John Arne Riise sent off (49).

Montenegro beat Macedonia 2-1 thanks to goals from Miodrag Dzudovic (24) and Stevan Jovetic (33, pen). Goran Popov grabbed a late consolation (85).

Heidar Helguson scored the only goal of the games as Iceland beat Malta 1-0.

Minnows Luxembourg gained a notable home draw with Belgium with Mario Mutsch (46) levelling after Kevin Mirallas (23) put the visitors ahead.

Bosnia-Herzegovina won a high-scoring encounter with Slovenia 4-3. Vedad Ibisevic grabbed a brace for the visitors (2, 63) while Zvjezdan Misimovic (13) and Edin Dzeko (53) also netted.

Robert Koren (27) hit the first for Slovenia and Milivoje Novakovic (64 pen, 75) pulled the hosts to within one goal but they could not find the equaliser.

Marek Hamsik (43, 72) scored twice in Slovakia's 4-0 victory over Liechtenstein with Robert Vittek (75) and Robert Jez (90) also netting.

Lithuania and Moldova drew 1-1 with Mantas Savenas equalising for the hosts with a 72nd-minute penalty, three minutes after Igor Bugaiov put Moldova ahead.

It was the same scoreline between Azerbaijan and Albania. Branimir Subasic put Azerbaijan into the lead after only four minutes before Elis Bakaj equalised in the 11th minute. Albania held on for a draw despite Elvin Beqiri's red card (45).

Cyprus were 2-1 victors over Belarus with Demetris Christofi (29) and Andreas Avraam (28) putting the hosts two up before Leonid Kovel (55) pulled one back for Belarus.
