Fergie vows to keep keepers

Alex Ferguson has dismissed any chance of either Tomasz Kuszczak or Ben Foster leaving Manchester United on loan this season.

The pair have been acting as back-up to Edwin van der Sar this term but with Foster fit again after an ankle injury, it was felt either he or Kuszczak might be set for a temporary move away from Old Trafford.

New Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was said to be particularly keen on getting Foster to White Hart Lane on a short-term basis.

However, there seems little point Redknapp contacting his old friend Ferguson as the Scot has no intention of letting Foster leave.

“There is absolutely no chance of Ben Foster or Tomasz Kuszczak going out on loan,” said Ferguson.

“We have Tom Heaton on loan at Cardiff at the moment and that is plenty.”

Ferguson left Van der Sar out of Wednesday’s win against West Ham – on the veteran Dutchman’s 38th birthday – and will continue to rest him at times through the season.

Partly that is to do with Van der Sar’s age but also Ferguson feels it is vital for Kuszczak and Foster to become established members of the first-team set-up.

“Edwin will be back against Hull tomorrow,” said the United boss.

“We left him out against West Ham because we are managing him to keep the freshness in him.

“But it is also very important that we give experience to Kuszczak and Foster.

“I will be rotating them as the season goes on.

“We need to give them experience but also show we regard them very highly. They are the future.”
