Argentina coach Alfio Basile has called up the Apertura tournament’s leading goalscorer, Jose Sand, for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Chile.

Basile will be without Juan Roman Riquelme and Carlos Tevez, both suspended, while Sergio Aguero is doubtful because of injury.

And Sand, who plays for Lanus, is delighted will his call-up.

“This is a very good news for me,” the 28-year-old said. “This is the best moment of my career.

“I worked very hard to get to this position and now I hope I will have the chance to show all of my potential.”

Argentina lie third in the South American qualification table on 16 points, level with Brazil, and four points behind leaders Paraguay.
