Calderon: We will respect United
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon insists no discussions have yet been held with Manchester United over the possible transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo.
And Calderon is adamant that nothing will happen until the Spanish champions are given the go-ahead by the Old Trafford hierarchy.
Reports today suggested United chief executive David Gill will issue an official âhands offâ warning to Real tomorrow.
It could mean the drawn-out transfer saga will soon come to an end.
Calderon said they had no discussions with United and the Spanish club did not want to be âdisrespectfulâ to the Premier League champions.
âI wouldnât like to interfere in a relationship between player and club,â Calderon told BBC World Service Sport.
âI have heard that he has said many times that he would like to go to Madrid and it is his dream. But we canât say any more as it could be misinterpreted and we wouldnât like to upset Manchester.
âI donât know if he will play for Real Madrid next season. We will only do what Manchester United want to do with the player.
âWe are very good friends with Manchester United and they have said many times that they donât want to sell the player so we canât do anything.
âIf they say sometime that they would like to sell we will be there and will ask.â
