Gilberto and Adebayor give Gunners lead at break

Emmanuel Adebayor netted his 27th goal of the season as Arsenal took a deserved 2-0 first-half lead against relegation battlers Reading at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners – whose hopes of the title and European glory have evaporated in recent weeks – started well, with recalled Theo Walcott impressing.

Adebayor put Arsenal in front on the half-hour, before Gilberto doubled the lead following a deflection off Reading defender Andre Bikey.
