Rovers reject Roberts exit talk

Blackburn chairman John Williams insists striker Jason Roberts will not be sold in the summer following fresh speculation about his future at Ewood Park.

Blackburn chairman John Williams insists striker Jason Roberts will not be sold in the summer following fresh speculation about his future at Ewood Park.

The 30-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Rovers side since a £3m move from Wigan in 2006 and had a transfer request rejected earlier this season.

However, he has started the last five matches and Williams has rubbished rumours linking Roberts to Derby, Sunderland and Bolton.

“Jason’s been on a good run of late and, as far as I’m concerned, he will be with us at the start of next season,” Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“Certainly at the moment, he’s not for sale and we won’t be entertaining any approaches for him.

“We are not in the process of wanting to lose our best players and Jason comes into that category.”
