O'Flynn, Foley out for Galway
Galway United entertain Bohemians at Terryland Park tonight in Gypsies boss Pat Fenlon’s first competitive game in charge, kick-off 7.45pm.
Galway manager Tony Cousins will have to do without the services of striker Stephen O'Flynn who has a groin problem and Ciaran Foley who is carrying a shin injury.
Defender Alan Keane is still out, although John Fitzgerald is fit to start.
New signing Ollie Fenn is set to make his competitive debut, while local lads Seamus Conneelly and Jonathan Keane have been added to the squad.
Cousins is confident ahead of the new season and claims his side are ready for the off.
He said: "The concentration in training this week has been on sharpness, short stuff, we sat down early in the new year and put a good plan together, we have stuck to that and are well prepared for Friday night."
Left back Conor Powell is missing for Bohemians as is fellow defender Thomas Heary, otherwise, Fenlon has a full squad to choose from.
Fenlon is also relishing the start of the season. "I am really looking forward to it," he said.
"Obviously, you can do a lot of work in pre-season, and the players have worked really hard, but the competitive edge has been creeping in during training this week and hopefully that will continue right up to Friday night.
"The mood in the camp is really good, the players have worked really hard and are in great condition, and we have spent some time this week working on our game plan."
He added: "This club is aspiring to challenge for the title this year and we have to travel to places like Galway and take the points on offer if we are to achieve that."
