Allardyce exit sparks new Magpies search
Newcastle are in the market for a new manager today after Sam Allardyce’s departure yesterday evening left the Magpies looking for their eighth manager in 11 years and St James’ Park shrouded in fresh uncertainty.
Alan Shearer was inevitably the name on thousands of lips on Tyneside as news of the former Bolton boss’s demise emerged, although he quickly eased in the betting as talk of an experienced British replacement surfaced and sources close to the player told the BBC – for whom he works as a pundit – that he was extremely unlikely to succeed Allardyce.
