Ferguson hopeful over duo

Alex Ferguson will hope Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick have recovered from illness when Manchester United look to bounce back from defeat at West Ham by beating Birmingham at Old Trafford.

The pair both missed the shock Upton Park loss after picking up a virus but would expect to be involved against Alex McLeish’s men.
