Maldini happy to face old foe
AC Milan veteran Paolo Maldini is looking forward to his side renewing their rivalry with Juventus.
The Bianconeri visit the San Siro on December 2 for the first time since they were relegated to Serie B for their part in Italian football’s match-fixing affair.
And Maldini believes it is good for the game to have the Old Lady back in the top flight.
He told www.acmilan.com: “It’s a nice thing because aside from the rivalry between us, a Serie A championship without Juventus isn’t the same thing. I think it will be a good game.”
Maldini is desperate to see the Rossoneri claim their first home victory in the league this season, having managed no wins and just three goals at the San Siro.
Milan’s dreadful home record sees them sit 11th in Serie A over the international break, but Maldini is refusing to rule out a title challenge despite lying 11 points behind rivals Internazionale.
“I think that for us a lot always depends on how we start games,” he said. “It’s very important to start games well.
“We really feel like showing what we can do because we want to start a more convincing run of games in the league and these games are fundamental to get points.
“Our season still has two main objectives which are the league and the Champions League.”
