Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate was delighted with his players’ performance in their 2-0 victory over Birmingham at the Riverside.

Goals from David Wheater and England winger Stewart Downing gave Boro a deserved first home victory of the season over a distinctly lacklustre Blues side.
