Sinclair to leave Eastlands
Former England international Trevor Sinclair will leave Manchester City in the summer.
The 34-year-old joined his boyhood idols from West Ham in 2003 but has been dogged by injuries throughout his time at Eastlands.
Sinclair has been restricted to just 98 games for the Blues after suffering a succession of problems and although his latest comeback has featured substitute appearances against Aston Villa and, last Saturday, Manchester United, manager Stuart Pearce has informed the former World Cup squad member his contract will not be renewed.
âAfter sitting down to discuss my situation this week with the manager, we have agreed I will not be staying at City once the season ends,â Sinclair told the clubâs website, mcfc.co.uk
âI have enjoyed my time at City enormously and have fulfilled my boyhood dream of playing for the club I have always supported.â
Despite his advancing years, Sinclair insists he still has plenty to offer and has not given up hope of being picked up by another Premiership club.
âI have not played as much as I would have liked recently and I am excited by the thought of a new challenge which will give me the opportunity to play more regularly,â he said.
âI feel I can continue to play in the Premier League for at least another couple of years, if not longer.â
