SFA waiting for Old Firm report

Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc must wait to discover whether he faces any sanctions for the flag-waving incident which caused controversy after Saturday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox.

The Scottish Football Association confirmed this morning they have not yet received referee Craig Thomson’s report from the game.

The timing of the Bank Holiday means the SFA’s disciplinary and referee department do not expect Thomson’s report to arrive until tomorrow at the earliest.

Boruc, aged 27, angered Rangers fans after the final whistle on Saturday when he raced across the pitch with a flag handed to him by a Celtic supporter, bearing the word ’champions’.

Celtic lost 2-0 to Rangers but had clinched the Bank of Scotland Premier League title on the previous weekend.

Strathclyde Police have confirmed they will discuss the incident with Celtic and the Scottish Premier League, but stress Boruc did not commit a criminal offence.

If Thomson’s makes reference to the incident, the SFA could charge Boruc with misconduct.
