Anxious wait for SPL bosses

Jim Jefferies and Maurice Malpas will have to wait 24 hours before discovering whether they could face action from the Scottish Football Association following a day of drama in the Bank of Scotland Premier League.

Kilmarnock manager Jefferies was sent to the stand during their 2-0 defeat at Celtic after being accused of adopting a “threatening manner” towards linesman Brian McGarry by referee Steve Conroy.

Jefferies claimed he simply laughed when McGarry failed to award his side a foul but the incident is set to land him with a two-match touchline ban.

Also waiting for the referee’s report to arrive at the SFA tomorrow is Motherwell manager Malpas.

He claimed official Mike McCurry was “conned” by Dado Prso when he awarded Rangers the penalty which secured all three points for the Ibrox club at Fir Park, while insisting Motherwell were denied a spot-kick.

Malpas was also unhappy at McCurry’s unwillingess to explain Marc Fitzpatrick’s red card.

Fitzpatrick and Prso were both sent packing following a goalmouth scrap involving almost every player on the park and the Well boss criticised McCurry for snubbing his request for an explanation.
