Birmingham boss Steve Bruce revelled in a timely Carling Cup upset as his Coca-Cola Championship side hit back from behind to bundle out Sheffield United in an entertaining clash at Bramall Lane.

Ade Akinbiyi put the Blades ahead in the 21st minute only for his effort to be cancelled out four minutes from the break when Dudley Campbell grabbed an equaliser.

Nicklas Bendtner and Cameron Jerome beat the Blades’ offside trap to give their side a 3-1 lead and although Nick Montgomery narrowed the deficit, Sebastian Larsson wrapped up a 4-2 win in injury time.
