Win keeps Drogheda in hunt for Europe

Drogheda United 1 UCD 0

Declan O’Brien scored an early 13th league ogal of the season as Drogheda ground out a vital win to keep them in the hunt for Europe.

The only goal came after just four minutes and was textbook stuff from start to finish.

Paul Keegan began a counterattack with a sublime cross-field pass to put Glen Fitzpatrick away down the left and he picked out the run of strike partner O’Brien who shot home.

Both goalkeepers came into their own in the second half to prevent any further scoring.

Drogheda custodian Dan Connor made two particularly good stops from Conor Sammon and Tony McDonnell.

At the other end, College keeper Darren Quigley did well with stops from O’Brien, Brian Shelley and Sami Ristila.
