Marseille president Pape Diouf claims Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse is eager to join the French club.

Diouf met the France international and his advisors yesterday to determine whether he was interested in a transfer to the Mediterranean giants after breaking his leg in a World Cup warm-up match.

And he returned to France convinced the 24-year-old, who will be sidelined for around five months, is keen on a move to the Stade Velodrome.

“Djibril is still motivated to come to Marseille,” said Diouf on www.olympiquedemarseille.com.

The Marseille president will travel to England early next week in an attempt to complete the transfer.

Cisse, meanwhile, is preparing to start a physiotherapy programme in Saint-Raphael.
