Gallas delaying decision on future

Chelsea’s wantaway defender William Gallas has refused to become embroiled in a public examination of his future plans by insisting that he is only concentrating on France’s World Cup hopes.

AC Milan are ready to offer the defender an exit route from Stamford Bridge after talks between the 28-year-old and the Barclays Premiership champions appeared to have stalled.

Gallas has one year left on his current contract but has made no secret of the fact he wants to leave the Londoners.

The former Marseille player, preparing for his country’s World Cup opener against Switzerland in Germany, told Football365.fr: “For the moment, I don’t care about Chelsea. In my head, it is clear, I only think about the French squad.”

Meanwhile, German defender Robert Huth has thanked Chelsea’s fans after he announced he was leaving the club to join Middlesbrough next season.

The two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee last week and Huth said: “I have spoken with the manager, Gareth Southgate, and have promised him I will join Middlesbrough for the new season.

“The paperwork hasn’t been completed as yet but I have told Middlesbrough that I will sign the contract when it is ready.

“Thanks to the Chelsea fans – you’ve given me great support. Thank you for standing behind me.”
