Roberto Carlos reveals Chelsea offer

Roberto Carlos wants to stay at Real Madrid despite claiming he has received offers from Chelsea and clubs in the Middle East.

The Brazilian full-back claims he has been offered lucrative deals by the English champions plus clubs Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

And while the 33-year-old says he would prefer to stick with Real, he admits he could be tempted by a move away from the Bernabeu.

“I want to stay with Real Madrid, that I know for sure. But I have very good offers from Chelsea, Qatar and also from other teams in the United Arab Emirates,” he said in Spanish newspaper AS.

With regards to a possible move to Chelsea, Roberto Carlos added: “They have offered me a two-year contract with the option of another and a very good financial deal, and I want to play at a good level.

“If Madrid match that offer, then I will stay. But football in the Premiership in also very competitive and first-rate.

“I have a contract (with Real) until June 30, 2007 and I would like to prolong it a little longer.”

Roberto Carlos’ future at Real is unlikely to be sorted out until later this summer as the Spanish giants are having elections to find a new president.

Those elections are set to take place on July 2, and Roberto Carlos is keen to hear what the new man has to say before making up his mind.

“I know I must speak with the new president and see what he wants. But I must look to do the best thing for me and make the most of the time I have left in soccer,” the former Internazionale defender added.
