Pearson: I'll wait for my chance

Celtic midfielder Stephen Pearson is prepared to bide his time for his next first-team start.

The 23-year-old’s last start was in the in-fated Tennent’s Scottish Cup tie at Clyde and an 89th-minute substitution appearance at Ibrox last weekend gave him little chance to impress.

But, while reserve goalkeeper David Marshall has expressed his concern at his lack of first-team action, Pearson is happy to keep working hard to make the breakthrough.

The former Motherwell man said: “It is frustrating and you want to play in more of the games.

“But if the team are doing well, which they are at the moment, then it is going to be difficult to get in.

“In the midfield, in particular, there’s a lot of competition for places.

“It’s always nice to know how well Gordon Strachan feels you are doing.

“He’s told me I just need to be patient but it’s quite difficult.

“You want to play as much as you can but you can’t change a winning side so I’m prepared to wait.”
