Rooney has no regrets over United move

Wayne Rooney remains convinced he made the right decision by joining Manchester United, despite so far having failed to bring any silverware to Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old has had to watch Chelsea dominate in the Premiership and Liverpool conquer Europe since his £27m (€39.4m) switch from Everton.

United’s best chance of landing a trophy came in last season’s domestic cup competitions, but they went out to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup and lost on penalties to Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

However, Rooney told the Daily Mirror: “I’ve no regrets whatsoever about joining United. I love the club, I love the fans. And even if I could go back in time, I’d make the same decision 10 out of 10 times.

“I think the move to United has really improved me as a player. This has been a difficult season watching Chelsea do so well, but I believe there’s a great future ahead at United.

“That’s what you play for, to win trophies. We’ve a chance of winning the Carling Cup and the FA Cup this season, and we want both.

“I think the last trophy I won was when I was playing for the under-12s, so hopefully I can get my first major honour under my belt and win more after that.”
