Defoe double seals derby win for Spurs

Jermain Defoe increased his chances of an England World Cup place with two goals in Tottenham’s 3-1 victory over Charlton at White Hart Lane.

The striker netted either side of a Jermaine Jenas strike as Spurs strengthened their grip on fourth place in the Barclays Premiership.

Substitute Jerome Thomas scored Charlton’s consolation late on.
